This trip takes you on a gentle trek through the Sacred Valley to the ancient Inca fortresses of Pumamarca and Ollantaytambo, then onwards to the world wonder of Machu Picchu. Your trek will begin in the historical town of Ollantaytambo, where you'll follow the Patacancha River through the coloured fields, terraced hillsides and eucalyptus stands of the Sacred Valley, where you'll take in views of spectacular Andean peaks and valleys then eventually join and follow the traditional Inca Trail until you reach the ruins of Pumamarca. After spending time exploring this site, you'll return to Ollantaytambo to explore its imposing own Inca fortress. You'll then take the train to Aguas Calientes to spend a day exploring the mystical mountain citadel of Machu Picchu. The whole way you'll be accompanied by an expert guide who'll share the history behind everything you encounter. This trip is an accessible yet adventurous way to immerse yourself in the special beauty and history of the Andean mountains.
