This 5-day trip will take you from Cusco, through the tropical foothills of the Andes, and onwards into Manu National Park deep in the Amazon Jungle. Manu National Park is a protected area of the Peruvian rainforest rich in biodiversity. You'll begin your journey there with a spectacular bus ride downwards through the cloud forests of the eastern slopes of the Andes, where you'll stop to search for some of the local wildlife, such as quetzals, tucanets, hummingbirds, and woolly monkeys, and spend the night in Bamboo Lodge. The next day, you'll continue your journey into the Amazon Basin itself, where you'll travel by boat along the Alto Madre de Dios River to the Maquisapayoj Lodge where you'll enjoy a double room and private bathroom for your stay. From here, you'll take day and night treks through the jungle in search of more wildlife, including up to 13 species of monkey, explore the Camungo and Blanco lakes to observe giant river otters, visit a macaw clay lick to observe these beautiful parrots, climb an observation tower to see toucans, and spend a night at a mammal clay lick to observe nocturnal animals such as tapir.
