This 7-day trip will take you on one of Peru's highest and most remote treks to the tallest mountain in the Cusco region. At 6,372 metres, the immense Ausangate is the fifth tallest mountain in Peru and considered sacred by the local people. Due to the remoteness of our challenging trek there, it's perfect for taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery southern Peru has to offer, as well as spotting some elusive Andean wildlife. As you hike through the Cordillera Vilcanota, you'll pass through landscapes dotted with llamas and alpaca, get spectacular views of coloured lagoons fed by melting snow from the surrounding mountains, take in stunning views of rainbow mountains, and possibly encounter high altitude animals such as vizcachas, vicuñas, and Andean flamingoes.
