This ultimate 8-day trip will take you from Cusco, through the tropical foothills of the Andes, and onwards into Manu National Park deep in the Amazon Jungle. Manu National Park is a protected area of the Peruvian rainforest rich in biodiversity. You'll begin your journey there with a spectacular bus ride downwards through the cloud forests of the eastern slopes of the Andes, where you'll stop to search for some of the local wildlife. You'll continue your journey along the Alto Madre de Dios River where you'll travel through the jungle, taking day and night treks in search of wildlife, explore the Salvador and Otorongo oxbow lakes to see giant river otters, visit a macaw clay lick, climb an observation tower, meet the native Machiguenga people, visit the remote Pakitza Biological Station, and spend a night at a mammal clay lick to observe nocturnal animals.
