2-day machu picchu adventure

No visit to Peru is complete without experiencing Machu Picchu, on this 2 day trip you'll travel there in the comfort of a train, then trek the surrounding mountains before finally explore the famous lost city.

Your adventure will begin as soon as you board the train, watching the landscapes outside your window change from fresh, temperate mountain terrain to humid, luscious cloud forest is a fascinating experience in itself. In Aguas Calientes, the nearest town to Machu Picchu, you'll immediately set off on a trek to Putucusi Mountain from where you'll get your first glimpse of Machu Picchu, and the Mandor Waterfalls where your guide will introduce you to the region's beautiful flora and fauna.

Your trip will reach its peak the next morning when you finally reach the world wonder of Machu Picchu nestled high in the mountains. As you explore the ancient ruins you'll be accompanied by an expert guide to talk you through the history of everything you discover.

Itinerary:

Day 1

4am pick-up in Cusco

Transport to Ollantaytambo

6.40am train to Aguas Calientes

8.30am approx. arrival in Aguas Calientes

Meet with guide in Aguas Calientes train station

Trek to Putucusi Mountain

Lunch

Trek to Mandor Waterfalls

Dinner and sleep in Hotel Hatun Inti Classic (Aguas Calientes)

Day 2

4am breakfast

5.30am bus to Machu Picchu (you can hike this if you prefer!)

2.5 hour tour of Machu Picchu

Optional hike up Huayna Picchu (not included in price)

Bus (or hike) back to Aguas Calientes

Lunch in Aguas Calientes

2.30pm train to Ollantaytambo

Onward transport to Cusco
