2-day machu picchu experience

No visit to Peru is complete without experiencing Machu Picchu, on this 2 day trip you'll travel there in the comfort of a train, have time to relax or explore the surrounding mountains, then finally explore the famous lost city.

Your adventure will begin as soon as you board the train, watching the landscapes outside your window change from fresh, temperate mountain terrain to humid, luscious cloud forest is a fascinating experience in itself. In Aguas Calientes, the nearest town to Machu Picchu, you'll be able to relax, visit the Machu Picchu museum, the botanical gardens or hot springs (not included in price), or if you're feeling adventurous, take a walk to the Mandor Waterfall or take a 3 hour hike to Putucusi Mountain.

Your trip will reach its peak the next morning when you finally set sight on the world wonder of Machu Picchu hidden away high in the mountains. As you explore the ancient ruins you'll be accompanied by an expert guide to talk you through the history of everything you discover.

Day 1

4am/8am pick-up in Cusco

Transport to Ollantaytambo

Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

Free time in Aguas Calientes

7am meeting with guide to discuss Day 2

Dinner and sleep in Hotel Hatun Inti Classic

Day 2

4am breakfast

5.30am bus to Machu Picchu (you can hike this if you prefer!)

2.5 hour tour of Machu Picchu

Optional hike up Huayna Picchu (not included in price)

Bus (or hike) back to Aguas Calientes

Lunch in Aguas Calientes

2.30pm train to Ollantaytambo

Onward transport to Cusco
