2-day nazca lines: cusco to lima
This trip is an ideal way of experiencing the mystery and wonder of the Nazca Lines while travelling from Cusco to Lima.
The Nazca Lines are known to have been created between 500BC and 500AD, but it is still unknown who created them and what their purpose was. This UNESCO World Heritage Site spans an area of around 50km2, so the only way to properly appreciate it is from the air. After arriving by bus from Cusco, you'll take to the skies where you'll have the perfect vantage point to take in an incredible array of lines and pictures, including animals up to 200 metres in length such as a hummingbird, a condor, and a spider.
After you're flight, you'll head to the pre-Inca cemetery of Chauchilla where you'll visit the burial sites of the old Nazca people, many of the tombs still containing mummies. Next, you'll visit a Nazca ceramics workshop where you'll learn about the pottery traditions that have been carried on from ancient times. After lunch (not included), you'll take an afternoon bus to Lima and be in the capital for 11pm.
We recommend you to book your flight in advance, especially in high season, don't miss out on the chance to witness this mysterious piece of Andean heritage from a bird's eye view!
