After beginning in Cusco, you'll spend a day taking in the beauty and history of the nearby Sacred Valley. Following the Urutamba River, you'll visit the Inca ruins of Pisac set high in spectacular terranced Andean mountainsides, as well as the Inca town of Ollantaytambo and its awe-inspiring Inca fortress. Along the way you'll also pass through stunning landscapes and typical Andean villages where the local people still wear traditional clothing and live by ancient customs. After a train journey through sub-tropical mountains to Aguas Calientes, your trip will climax with a day exploring the stunning world wonder of Machu Picchu before finishing back in Cusco. All along the way you'll be accompanied by an expert guide who'll share the history of everything you visit on your journey.

Day 1

8am pick-up in Cusco

Visit to Pisac market

Visit to Pisac ruins

Stop in Urubamba for lunch

Visit to Ollantaytambo town and ruins

4.30pm train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

7.30pm arrival in Aguas Calientes

Dinner and sleep in Hatun Inti Classic Hotel

Day 2

4am breakfast

5.30am bus to Machu Picchu (you can hike this if you prefer!)

2.5 hour tour of Machu Picchu

Optional hike up Huayna Picchu (not included in price)

Bus (or hike) back to Aguas Calientes

Lunch in Aguas Calientes

2.30pm train to Ollantaytambo

Onward transport to Cusco
