The Apurimac originates from high in the Andes Mountains before eventually joining the Amazon River, and as it's the Amazon's most direct source it's considered the longest river on the planet. On this trip you'll spend 3 exhilarating days following it through stunning mountain landscapes where you can encounter wildlife such as river otters, foxes, torrent ducks, cormorants, and even the emblematic condor, along the way you'll navigate class III+ and IV rapids, and in certain sections class IV+ and V rapids. Our expert class V guides will be on hand the whole time to ensure your safely and of course to take photos of your adventure! With 2 nights of camping beneath the stars, there's no better way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Andes.

Itinerary:


Day 1

8.30am pick-up in Cusco

4 hour drive to set-off point at Huallpachaca Bridge

Safety talk and preparation of equipment

Lunch

2+ hours of rafting on class II and III rapids

Arrival at camp for dinner


Day 2

Breakfast

9am rafting

6 hours of rafting, mostly class III and IV (lunch break included)

4pm approximate arrival at camp

Dinner


Day 3

Breakfast

4 hours of rafting (including class V rapids)

Arrival at take-out

Lunch

Return to Cusco (arriving at approximately 5pm)
